Defined at the end of the 20th century, it has no ancient occult tradition under this name. Its contemporary correspondence can nevertheless follow its material: Venus receives green and zinc, Saturn organizes boundaries, Earth forms the foundation, and Air circulates between the layers.

Zinc dominates one position in the structure, distinguishing the species from closely related chlorites. Identification requires analysis: the green color and layered appearance are not enough.

The original article in American Mineralogist presents baileychlore as the zinc-bearing end member of the trioctahedral chlorite series. Its heritage is therefore scientific, born from the analysis of layers.
