Shintoism
Shintō (神道), literally "the way of the kami," is the indigenous religious tradition of Japan. It is based on neither a single founder, nor a revelation, nor a sacred book comparable to the major monotheistic religions. It gradually formed from the beliefs, rites, and local cults of ancient Japanese communities before being structured through contact with Buddhism starting in the 6th century. The core of Shintō is the worship of the kami, a term that refers to sacred powers rather than gods in the Western sense. Kami can be associated with natural phenomena (mountains, rivers, trees, winds), certain animals, ancestors, founding heroes, or forces that manifest a particular spiritual presence. They are neither omnipotent nor perfectly good or evil: they maintain a reciprocal relationship with human beings based on respect, offerings, and the observance of rites. Ancient texts, notably the Kojiki and the Nihon Shoki, recount the myths of Japan’s creation and the genealogy of the main kami, including Amaterasu, considered the mythical ancestor of the imperial lineage.
Shintō practice is essentially ritualistic. It is expressed in shrines (jinja), where worshippers come to pray, make offerings, participate in seasonal festivals (matsuri), or seek the protection of the kami. Before approaching the sacred space, visitors perform a symbolic purification (misogi or temizu) by washing their hands and mouth, illustrating the importance of ritual purity in this tradition. The notion of kegare, translated as "defilement" or "impurity," does not primarily refer to a moral fault but to a state that can result from illness, death, or certain life events, and which requires purification rites to restore harmony between the individual, the community, and the kami. Shintō does not propose an elaborate doctrine on salvation, sin, or the afterlife; it emphasizes maintaining a balance between human beings, nature, and sacred powers. In Japan, this tradition has coexisted for over a millennium with Buddhism.

Does real magic exist?
Magic is often perceived as a subtle reality that transcends the mere manipulation of physical elements, manifesting through intention, concentration, and spiritual connection. Throughout history, many cultures have recognized magic as a force capable of influencing both the material and immaterial worlds. Practitioners of magic, whether witches, shamans, or magicians, use rituals, incantations, and sacred objects to channel energies and manifest their intentions. These practices are rooted in the belief that everything in the universe is interconnected, and that the human mind, when properly focused, can interact with these energies to create tangible changes.
Moreover, magic often finds its reality in its psychological and emotional effects. Magical rituals and spiritual practices can bring a sense of control, serenity, and healing, which can have significant positive effects on individuals' daily lives. Symbols, mantras, and ritual gestures serve to focus the mind and strengthen the will, allowing practitioners to overcome personal challenges and achieve their goals. In this sense, magic is real not only as a spiritual practice but also as a powerful tool for personal transformation and the manifestation of desires. The subjective experiences of practitioners, combined with the observable results of their practices, testify to the living reality of magic in the contemporary world.
How to practice witchcraft safely?
Practicing witchcraft safely requires a thoughtful and respectful approach, starting with a solid understanding of the basics and ethical principles. First, it is essential to thoroughly inform and educate yourself before beginning any practice. Reading reputable books, taking online or in-person courses with experienced practitioners, and joining witch circles or communities can provide a reliable knowledge base. Learning basic protections, such as creating magic circles, using protective talismans, and purification techniques, is crucial to shield yourself from negative energies and unwanted influences.
Furthermore, the practice of witchcraft should always be guided by positive and ethical intentions. Respecting the rule of three, which states that any energy sent out returns threefold, encourages practitioners to act responsibly and kindly. Avoiding spells of manipulation or coercion that could harm others is essential to prevent negative karmic consequences. Always ask for permission before casting spells on or for someone else, and ensure that all magical actions align with overall well-being. By respecting these principles and cultivating a practice based on love, healing, and protection, witches can practice witchcraft safely and harmoniously.
