Allan Kardec
Allan Kardec, whose real name was Hippolyte Léon Denizard Rivail, was born in 1804 in Lyon and died in 1869 in Paris, where he developed and structured what became modern spiritism. Trained in pedagogy in the tradition of the Swiss Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi, he first pursued a career as a teacher and author of educational works before becoming interested, from the 1850s onward, in the phenomena of table-turning, which sparked great interest in Europe. Rather than limiting himself to a recreational approach, he undertook a methodical study of these manifestations, which he interpreted as the expression of disembodied intelligences. He adopted the pseudonym Allan Kardec to sign his works, claiming it corresponded to a previous identity. In 1857, he published The Spirits' Book, a foundational work that gathers communications attributed to spirits and presents a doctrine structured around the survival of the soul, reincarnation, and moral progression. He completed this corpus with The Mediums' Book, The Gospel According to Spiritism, and other texts that specify the practices, rules, and ethics of this doctrine. Kardec also founded the Spiritist Review, which became a central organ for dissemination and discussion. His work was based on a desire for organization and coherence, with a constant effort to classify and compare the communications collected, which distinguishes his approach in the spiritual landscape of the 19th century.

Why choose a book by author?
Esotericism is not limited to an accumulation of practices and beliefs. It is a journey, a quest for knowledge rooted in study and transmission. Great esoteric authors have dedicated their lives to uncovering the mysteries of the invisible world and sharing their discoveries through powerful and inspiring writings. Diving into the complete works of an author allows one to grasp the evolution of their thought and the depth of their approach.
Some have devoted their research to the secrets of magic and symbols, like Eliphas Lévi or Papus. Others have explored Hermetic initiation, such as Franz Bardon. Aleister Crowley revolutionized ritual magic and Kabbalah with a bold approach, while Doreen Valiente and Scott Cunningham restored the prestige of natural magic and pagan traditions.

Each book selected in our bookstore represents a gateway to ancient or contemporary knowledge.
