Dane Rudhyar

Dane Rudhyar, born Daniel Chennevière in 1895 in Paris and died in 1985 in the United States, holds a major place in the renewal of astrology in the 20th century, which he approached as a structured symbolic language rather than a simple tool for prediction. Settling in the United States at a young age, he moved in artistic and intellectual circles where music, philosophy, and psychology intersected, fields he gradually integrated into his vision of astrology. Trained as a composer, he developed a thought influenced by modernism and the philosophical currents of his time, leading him to conceive astrology centered on individual development and the understanding of life cycles. His works, including The Astrology of Personality published in 1936, marked a clear break with traditional astrology by introducing an interpretation focused on the meaning of human experiences rather than the announcement of events. He established close links between astrology, psychology, and symbolism, helping to bring about what is now called humanistic astrology. His abundant and structured work covers both theoretical foundations and the interpretation of astrological charts, with a constant demand for coherence and clarity.
