Aventurine

A stone of luck, money, and an alert mind, green Aventurine accompanies ventures where one must recognize an opening and then act at the right moment. The name comes from an adventure involving Venetian glass, but the stone is entirely natural: Quartz filled with fine reflective inclusions. Kozminsky placed it under the Lion in 1922. Cunningham attributed Mercury, Air, luck, money, and mental abilities to it in 1988.

Quartz that sparkles from within

Aventurine is massive Quartz crossed by small plate-like inclusions. Fuchsite produces the most common green color; other minerals create brown, red, or blue hues. Light reflects off these inclusions and creates aventurescence.

The Mindat mineralogical entry distinguishes natural stone from aventurine glass. Its hardness, close to 7, allows everyday use, although fissures and inclusions require reasonable handling.

An adventure born in glass

The word comes from the Italian a ventura, “by chance” or “adventure.” It was given to a glass containing metallic particles, made in Venice. The name later passed to natural Quartz that displayed a comparable sparkle.

Kozminsky revisited this history in 1922 and associated Aventurine with a stone described by Pliny as being strewn with golden stars. This identification remains uncertain, but the image of scattered light has long accompanied the stone.

The Lion and the sparkle of luck

In his 1922 treatise, Kozminsky places Aventurine under the Lion. This correspondence suits visibility, confidence, play, the pleasure of daring, and success that requires one to be seen.

The Lion alone is not enough to make the stone an ancient talisman of chance. It provides an astrological anchor from the early 20th century. Its more specific use for money, commerce, and games became established in contemporary magic.

Mercury, Air, and practical intelligence

In his 1988 encyclopedia, Cunningham assigns Mercury and Air to Aventurine. He connects it with mental abilities, perception, creativity, games of chance, money, peace, and luck.

This practice is suitable for merchants, creators, and people who need to read a situation quickly. The stone can hold a quote, a game, a product idea, or a file, with a purpose expressed in just a few words.

Commerce, play, and favorable opportunity

Keep an Aventurine near the cash register, order book, or card-reading surface. For a sale, entrust it with the intention of attracting the right opportunity and recognizing the moment to close. For a game, set the stake before the ritual and do not exceed it.

On a Wednesday, place the Aventurine on a coin and write down a business action to carry out that same day. Light a green candle, then name the desired outcome and the sign that will allow you to recognize a genuine opportunity.

Keep the stone with the coin until the end of the week. Whenever an opportunity arises, compare it with the written sign. If it fits, act; otherwise, let it pass. At the end of the period, put the coin in the cash register or give it away.
