Neptune

Introduction to Neptune

Neptune is the Roman god of the sea, of fresh waters, of earthquakes, and of horses. He is the Roman equivalent of Poseidon in Greek mythology, but before being assimilated to the latter, Neptune was originally a god of freshwater springs. Son of Saturn and Ops, Neptune is one of the three great gods along with his brothers Jupiter and Pluto, who rule respectively over the skies, the sea, and the underworld. He is often depicted with a trident, his symbol of power over the waters, and travels on a chariot pulled by marine creatures, often hippocamps.
