Basilica of Our Lady of Victories in Paris

Located at 6, rue Notre-Dame-des-Victoires, in the 2nd arrondissement of Paris, this minor basilica was founded in 1629 by King Louis XIII. It commemorates the royal victory during the siege of La Rochelle in 1628. Completed in 1740, the church is an example of French Baroque architecture. It is particularly renowned for the many ex-votos left by the faithful, testifying to graces received through the intercession of the Virgin Mary. In 1927, it was elevated to the rank of minor basilica.

Church of Our Lady of Victory in Lorient

In Lorient, Brittany, the Church of Our Lady of Victory, also called Saint Louis Church, is located at 1 rue Turenne. Built after the destruction of the old Saint Louis Church during the bombings of 1943, it was completed in 1955. Its name refers to the victory against the English siege of the city in 1746.

Church of Our Lady of Victories in Quebec

In Canada, the Church of Our Lady of Victories is located on Place Royale in Old Quebec. Built from 1687 on the site of Samuel de Champlain’s habitation, it is one of the oldest stone churches in North America. Initially dedicated to the Child Jesus, it was renamed Our Lady of Victory after the siege of Quebec in 1690, then Our Lady of Victories in 1711, in recognition of the perceived protection of the Virgin during British attacks.
