Aeternum
Figa Protection Talisman
The Figa, or more precisely the mano figa, is a little-known symbol in our region, originating from Mediterranean culture—particularly Etruscan, Roman, and pagan traditions—and made of bone and bronze. It takes the form of a closed hand with the thumb inserted between the index and middle fingers, evoking the primitive sexual rite and therefore fertility, vigor, and the protection of offspring.
It appeared very early: examples dating back to the Roman era as early as the 1st century have been found. Used as a protective gesture, the Figa talisman serves to ward off the evil eye, curses, and demonic threats.
This talisman is made of zamc (zinc) and comes with a cord.
⸺ Please note: consecration or cleansing must be carried out solely through incense smoke (and not with an anointing oil, water, or alcohol, which could damage the medallion).

The Figa, or mano figa, is an ancient symbol from Mediterranean culture, inheriting Etruscan, Roman, and pagan traditions. It takes the form of a closed hand with the thumb inserted between the index and middle fingers, a gesture originally evoking a primitive sexual rite. Through this symbol, it embodies fertility, vigor, and the protection of vital forces. Its protective meaning has allowed it to endure through the centuries as an amulet against harmful influences.
A Protective Talisman Against the Evil Eye
The earliest examples of mano figa appear as early as the 1st century, during Roman times. Used as an apotropaic gesture, it serves to ward off the evil eye, curses, and demonic threats. This amulet thus concentrates a tradition of protection inherited from Antiquity, where the hand becomes both a provocative and protective sign. Wearing a Figa means placing yourself under the guard of a millennia-old symbol, deeply rooted in Mediterranean culture.
A Little-Known Traditional Object
This talisman is made of zamac (a zinc-based alloy) and comes with a cord for easy wearing or hanging. With its simple appearance and powerful symbolism, it easily fits into daily or ritual use. Heir to a long history, the Figa continues to fulfill its protective role, recalling both the strength of primitive fertility and vigilance against invisible threats.

Amulet or talisman?
A talisman and an amulet are both objects used to channel protective energies, but their function and use differ. A talisman is created and consecrated with the specific purpose of attracting particular energies or qualities to its wearer, such as luck, success, or strength. It is active and acts as an amplifier of the wearer’s intention. In contrast, an amulet has a more defensive function: it protects by warding off negative influences and dangers, like a passive shield. In other words: where the talisman attracts, the amulet repels.
