In this work first published in 1903, Emmanuel-Napoléon Santini de Riols compiles an impressive collection of recipes, talismans, potions, perfumes, amulets, and love rituals drawn from European folk traditions, ancient grimoires, astrology, and the occult sciences of the past.

Far from being a simple manual of “love magic,” The True Means to Force Love immerses the reader in an ancient perspective on desire, seduction, and human attachment. It reveals over two hundred practices combining plants, stones, incense, planetary influences, astrological hours, and recipes for potions and talismans passed down through the centuries.

Buy The True Means to Force Love at our esoteric shop

First published in 1903, The True Means to Force Love by Emmanuel-Napoléon Santini de Riols is a remarkable testimony of early 20th-century French occult literature. At a time when collections of secrets, popular grimoires, and works dedicated to occult sciences were experiencing a real boom, the author gathers a vast array of practices devoted to love, seduction, and emotional bonds. The book reflects the ideas of its era and today serves as a valuable document on European magical traditions.

More than two hundred love recipes and practices

Santini de Riols compiles an impressive body of recipes, talismans, potions, perfumes, amulets, and love techniques drawn from popular traditions, ancient grimoires, astrology, and occult sciences. Readers will discover over two hundred practices involving plants, stones, incense, planetary influences, astrological hours, magical preparations, and talismans. Far beyond a simple manual of love magic, this work offers a particularly rich overview of the methods once used to promote seduction, strengthen feelings, or attract the desired person.

A reissue of a classic of French occultism

This reissue allows rediscovery of a text that has become hard to find, faithful to the original 1903 edition. It is aimed both at collectors of old books and enthusiasts of the history of magic, folklore, and esoteric traditions. A true testimony of the magical thinking of its time, this book remains highly relevant for understanding the role love practices once held in occult literature.

Emmanuel-Napoléon Santini de Riols was born in 1847. He belongs to the generation of late 19th-century authors who emerged during a renewed interest in occult sciences, ancient religious traditions, and popular practices, at a time when these fields were widely circulated in French publishing, balancing scholarly curiosity and practical literature. Active mainly in the last decades of the 19th century, Santini de Riols published several works dealing with ancient prayers, ritual recipes, religious traditions adapted for operative purposes, and practices derived from Christian and pre-Christian popular heritage. His texts blend liturgical Latin, everyday French, and formulations drawn from heterogeneous sources, sometimes scholarly, sometimes clearly transmitted orally or compiled from older works.

Here, we don’t judge.

No matter where you come from, what you believe in, or what you’re looking for: you belong here. You can be a beginner, curious, a casual practitioner, or a daily witch. What matters is sincere intention.

We believe in all forms of magic.

High magic and its rigorous rituals deserve as much respect as spells passed down in the countryside. We read grimoires, respect rites, listen to old stories. Everything practiced with faith deserves serious and curious attention.

We welcome all traditions.

We don’t put one path above another. We talk hoodoo, kabbalah, Christian prayers, elemental magic, folk rituals, Celtic symbols. What matters is respect. Not the label.

We work cleanly.

Each package is carefully prepared by us, here in France. Before shipping, it is purified so it arrives at your home cleansed and positively charged. We strive to use recyclable packaging and reduce our impact as much as possible.

We stay available.

Customer service is us. Not an AI, not a robot, not a call center. If you have a question, a doubt, a problem, you reach us—the same people who select the products, write the descriptions, and prepare the packages.

We stay human-sized.

We are a small passionate team with big ambitions, hands in the herbs, books, and boxes. And we want to keep it that way.

You speak about it best.
