A collection of writings among the oldest texts related to the Bible, considered apocryphal and rejected by the Christian Church, the Book of Enoch is one of the most enigmatic works of religious antiquity. Tradition attributes these texts to Enoch, presented as the great-grandfather of Noah and the seventh patriarch from Adam.
The whole is also known as the "Ethiopian Book of Enoch" or "Enoch I." The work develops themes that clearly diverge from the biblical canon: the origin of demons and giants, the fall of angels, their unions with humans, as well as the causes of the Flood. These elements explain its official exclusion from the 4th century onward. To this day, only the Ethiopian Church recognizes this text as canonical.
