The Black Obsidian belongs to the Saturnian sphere and is used to set a boundary, block harmful influences, and send back what causes harm. A polished pebble acts as a clear anchor point during tensions and as a guardian at the entrance of the house or near the altar.
For divination, Black Obsidian is suited for gazing: the black color focuses attention, calms agitation, and allows for a clearer reading of signs. A well-polished pebble serves as a scrying tool if you don’t have a black mirror; held in the hand, it helps to ask the question precisely and to filter out mental noise.
Consecration is done on a Saturday, at Saturn’s hour, with a brief fumigation of storax or myrrh, then stored in a black pouch. Worn during delicate exchanges, placed facing the door to form a symbolic mirror, or held before a breaking or closing ritual, it serves to cut sharply and stabilize. It thus belongs to operations of protection, return to sender, and serious scrying.
