Silver is a metal that was used by Greek healers who, it is said, could see by dipping a Silver mirror into water and then asking the patient to look at it, to see the outcome (healing or death) based on the distortion of the facial features. The Church, for its part, preferred to make mirrors from Silver, as glass was considered a gateway to demons.
