General Presentation of Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ, also called the Son, is the central figure of Christianity. He is recognized by Christians as the Son of God and the Messiah foretold in the Old Testament. Born in Bethlehem to the Virgin Mary and raised in Nazareth, Jesus lived a life of preaching and miracles, teaching love, forgiveness, and redemption. His public ministry lasted about three years, during which he attracted crowds with his words and miraculous acts, before being crucified in Jerusalem. His resurrection three days after his death is considered the foundation of the Christian faith. Jesus is also mentioned in Islam as a prophet under the name Isa, although he is not regarded as the Son of God in that tradition.
Symbols and Appearances of Jesus Christ
Jesus is often depicted in various forms, the most common being Christ on the cross (crucifixion), a symbol of his sacrifice. Other symbols include the Paschal lamb, bread and wine (representing his body and blood in the Eucharist), as well as the fish, which was a sign of recognition among early Christians. He is also frequently illustrated with a flaming heart, called the "Sacred Heart," symbolizing his infinite love and mercy.
Myths and Legends of Jesus Christ
The stories surrounding the life of Jesus Christ are drawn from the Gospels of the New Testament. Key events include his miraculous birth from the Virgin Mary, his many miracles (such as the multiplication of loaves, healing the sick, walking on water), as well as the Passion, death, and resurrection. These accounts form the foundation of Christian beliefs. Over the centuries, various mystical visions and apparitions of Jesus have also been reported by saints and mystics.
