Ogou Badagris

Ogou Badagris

Introduction to Ogoun Badagris

Ogoun Badagris is a member of the Ogoun who embodies the power of the general, master of strategy, tactics, and diplomacy. He is also a symbol of justice and victory. Sometimes, his role overlaps with that of Ogoun Feray, where, depending on Vodou lineages and regions of Haiti, one is seen as the general and the other as the soldier.

As a spirit of justice, Ogoun Badagris protects the innocent and the oppressed, and demands that promises made in his name be strictly honored. Any betrayal or deceit is severely punished. In legal matters, he exposes the guilty, and if they try to deceive him, they suffer heavy consequences.

Likewise, he is able to dispel curses and unjust attacks sent against his protégés, while severely punishing those who have committed such unjust actions
