The Eternal Father expresses a direct request to the Creator. Julio presents the image as a support for thought, without claiming to represent the infinite in all its reality.

Reading the symbolism

The central figure is surrounded by an invocation asking God to come to the aid of the person praying. Julio emphasizes the limitations of any image of the divine: it helps focus attention, while his explanation speaks of an invisible God irreducible to representation.

The attributed effects

The author attributes a very broad application to the sign: any circumstance in which a person asks their Creator for help. In particular, he presents it as a possible prayer for those who prefer to address God directly rather than seek the intercession of the saints.

The use according to Julio

The use described is that of a supplication. The formula placed around the image asks for prompt help. It may be read alongside Julio’s practical advice on blessed and consecrated supports; the notice does not specify a particular time or material for this pantacle.

A personal reading

Look at the image first, then return to the request surrounding it. A personal reading may consist of naming what weighs on you and formulating a simple request for help. The movement goes from the representation toward prayer.

The source and variants

The notice refers to Grands Secrets merveilleux, first volume, p. 163. Number 21 in the old inventory corresponds here to the second sign in the index of 44.

Abbé Julio, The Secret Book of Great Exorcisms and Blessings, Vincennes, published by the author, 1908. Explanation and application no. 21, p. 424. Practical advice on blessed and consecrated supports: pp. 462–463.

Classical index numbering: 2 of 44. This numbering differs from the inventory of engravings in the old volumes.
