A five-pointed star stands out in a colored stained-glass window. This page reproduces the paper Pentagram from the third volume and explains its connection with the medal described by Julio.

Read the symbolism

The plate preserves the star, the letters of the sacred name, and the inscription surrounding it. Julio also presents a double-sided metal Pentagram, with the four-letter name on one side and Michael’s name on the other. These two supports must remain identifiable.

The attributed effects

The note on the paper sign refers to the medal of strength. Julio attributes to it protection against evil powers, persecution, and slander. For the medal, he develops a long commentary on the symbolic power of the pentagram.

Usage in Julio’s work

The sign presented here is the paper version, integrated into the book’s blessing and consecration practices. The prescription of a gold medal belongs to metallic variant no. 60; it should not be transferred to this paper reproduction.

Personal reflection

For personal reflection, identify the five points and then the center of the figure. You may reflect on the unity of your intention and on how to maintain a consistent course of action in a situation of pressure.

The source and variants

The reproduction is plate no. 33 of the third volume, note no. 81, p. 459. The double-sided medal is explained in note no. 60, pp. 445–448. The classical catalog groups them under the heading Pentagram.

Abbé Julio, The Secret Book of Great Exorcisms and Blessings, Vincennes, published by the author, 1908. Explanation and application no. 81, p. 459; cross-reference pp. 445–448. Practical advice on blessed and consecrated supports: pp. 462–463.

Classical catalog numbering: 27 of 44. This numbering differs from the inventory of engravings in the old volumes.
