Three crosses accompany three formulas: Christ victorious, reigning, and commanding. Julio brings them together in a prayer of general protection.
Read the symbolism
The figure transcribes the three invocations explained in the note: Christus vincit, Christus regnat, and Christus imperat. The repetition of the crosses gives a visible structure to this triple affirmation. The old characters are preserved in the reproduction.
The attributed effects
The author describes the sign as a guard against attacks that he attributes to the spiritual enemy. He gives it an application in all circumstances, with the idea of constant vigilance and protection.
Usage according to Julio
Julio proposes writing the blessing of Saint Francis of Assisi on the reverse, then having the support blessed and consecrated. The note thus gives a detail specific to this figure: a text can supplement the image on its reverse.
A personal reading
For personal reading, follow the three crosses in order and read the three invocations explained in the note. You can make them the subject of a prayer about trust and vigilance throughout the day.
The source and variants
The note refers to the third volume, p. 69, and to the blessing of Saint Francis, p. 72. The large red cross of the Blessing of Saint Anthony belongs to another formula and another entry.
