In line with our article on Goetia, we have compiled in the table below the list of the 72 demons listed, along with their characteristics and powers. Of course, we do not claim this is an exhaustive list, but simply to allow you to see the work that has been done around demonology and which serves as a reference today. As a reminder, the Ars Goetia is the first section of the Lemegeton, also known as the Little Key of Solomon. It is a grimoire that specifically deals with the art of summoning 72 demons. This work is an important component of the tradition of Goetia in Western occultism.
Hierarchical organization

Demons are often organized according to a hierarchy that reflects the feudal or ecclesiastical structures of the time. Here is a simplified explanation of this hierarchy:
-
Kings: at the top of the hierarchy, kings are considered the most powerful. They often command several legions of demons and possess extensive powers.
-
Dukes: dukes are high-ranking and usually have control over a large number of demonic legions. They are often summoned for specific tasks or to obtain special knowledge.
-
Marquises: marquises are generally responsible for specific tasks or particular domains in the demonic world. They are often associated with natural phenomena or aspects of human knowledge.
-
Counts or Counts/Dukes: these titles indicate a high rank, though slightly below that of kings and dukes. These demons are often assigned specific tasks or have specialized knowledge.
-
Princes: princes are sometimes considered advisors or assistants to demonic kings. Their role can vary considerably.
-
Presidents: although they have a title that seems important, presidents in the demonic hierarchy are often less powerful than kings or dukes. However, they have specific responsibilities and can command a number of legions.
-
Knights: this title is less common. Demonic knights could be considered protectors or executors of specific tasks.
