Which symbols to use to celebrate Litha?

Which symbols to use to celebrate Litha?

IN THIS SUMMARY...

1. The Colors of Litha
2. Plant Symbols
3. The Fire Elements
4. Shapes and Objects

Litha is light at its peak. It is the moment when the sun dominates, the earth is full, and everything seems ready to be harvested. To celebrate this energy, the ritual is surrounded by strong, simple, and bright symbols. These are not accessories. They are visual and sensory anchors that allow the sabbat to be embodied.

Each Litha symbol speaks of strength, joy, abundance, and fire.

1. The Colors of Litha

The colors associated with Litha are golden yellow, orange, red, bright green, and white. Yellow and gold evoke the sun, success, and warmth. Red calls forth vital force, vibrant love, and action. Green recalls fertile earth, visible growth, and abundance to come. White soothes and balances.

Using these colors in your clothing, on your altar, in your candles, or in your dishes strengthens your connection with the season.

2. Plant Symbols

Litha is a favorable time to include solar plants such as St. John's wort, verbena, lavender, rosemary, sunflower, thyme, basil. These plants can be gathered, burned, placed on the altar, or used in baths.

The sunflower is a strong symbol of this sabbat: its shape, color, and movement recall the solar star. It expresses alignment, vitality, and loyalty to the natural cycle.

You can also use oak leaves, a symbol of strength and ancient solar power, or seasonal flowers handpicked.

3. The Fire Elements

Fire is the dominant element of Litha. It can be embodied by a yellow or red candle, a small brazier, warm incense, or even a symbolic flame on the altar. Lighting a flame at Litha is honoring vital force, awakening clarity, and purifying what blocks.

You can draw a small circle of sun-warmed stones, use an intense incense stick, or simply watch a flame with gratitude.

4. Shapes and Objects

Circular shapes are favored: the solar circle, the wheel, the disk all evoke the cycle, completeness, and expanding strength. You can draw a golden pentacle, hang a flower crown, wear a solar jewel, or make an amulet with golden grains.

Each symbol is not there to decorate. It connects you to the spirit of the moment. And in every leaf, every flame, every color, the light of the solstice speaks to you.
