Guggul

Guggul

General Description of Guggul

Guggul is an aromatic resin obtained from the Commiphora mukul tree, also known as the mukul myrrh tree, native to India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. The guggul resin is harvested by incising the tree's bark, allowing a thick, sticky sap to flow out, which then hardens into dark brown to amber gum pieces. History of Guggul

Guggul has a millennia-old history of use, especially in traditional Ayurvedic medicine in India. It is mentioned in ancient texts such as the Charaka Samhita and the Sushruta Samhita, where it is recommended for its many therapeutic properties. Used in religious and spiritual rituals for its purifying qualities, guggul has also been employed as sacred incense. Today, guggul continues to be used in traditional medicine, spiritual rituals, and as an ingredient in natural care products.
