Benzoin

Benzoin

General description of Benzoin

Benzoin is an aromatic resin obtained from the bark of trees of the Styrax genus, mainly Styrax benzoin and Styrax tonkinensis. These trees are mainly native to the Southeast Asian region, notably Laos, Thailand, and Indonesia. The resin is harvested by incising the tree bark, allowing a fragrant sap to flow, which then hardens into a resinous gum.
