Magnetite powder, a naturally magnetic iron ore, plays a major role in the traditions of Santeria and Hoodoo, thanks to its attracting properties. This substance is known for its ability to draw prosperity, wealth, and to amplify the power of other magical objects, such as mojos.
In rituals, magnetite powder can be sprinkled around the workspace to create a protective circle that also acts as a magnet for positive energies and the goals targeted by the ritual. When incorporated into oils, magnetite powder intensifies the properties of the blends, making them especially effective for anointing candles intended for rituals of financial abundance or material success. The use of the powder in this context aims to 'attract' blessings and opportunities toward oneself.
Placing magnetite powder in a mojo bag is another common practice. The mojo bag, already a powerful spiritual tool containing various herbs, roots, and personal items to attract luck, protection, or other specific intentions, has its effect amplified by the presence of magnetite. First apply a very thin layer of ritual oil to the wax, then dust the candle lightly without creating clumps.
The powder should adhere to the wax without forming a thick layer.
Never place powder on the wick. Keep plant or resin materials to a very small amount near a flame.
On the altar or in ritual space
Place the powder around a candle, talisman or container, or form a line, circle, cross or another sign used in your practice.
For work connected with a place, set it at thresholds, in corners or in a precise location, according to your intention: protection, banishing, attraction or prosperity.
In a sachet or preparation
Add a small amount to a ritual sachet, pouch, consecrated container or combined preparation.
This lets you incorporate the properties of the powder into a more complete working.
