Buy The Triple Infernal Vocabulary from our esoteric store

Published at the end of the 19th century, The Triple Infernal Vocabulary is one of the great encyclopedic works devoted to occultism. As a successor to the esoteric dictionaries that enjoyed considerable success at the time, it brings together a vast body of knowledge relating to magic, divinatory arts, demonology, folklore, and the major figures of the Hermetic tradition. Enriched with around fifty illustrations, it provides a valuable insight into how scholars of the period viewed the occult sciences.

A true encyclopedia of esotericism

As they turn its pages, readers discover the origin of the famous formula “Abracadabra,” the Pythagorean Wheel, axinomancy, major demonological figures such as Malphas, as well as a multitude of terms, practices, and curiosities drawn from esoteric literature. The work also presents the major treatises devoted to white magic and black magic, while including numerous entries on the authors and figures who shaped the history of occultism, including Hermes Trismegistus, Pythagoras, Mademoiselle Lenormand, and Nostradamus.

A reference for students of occult history

Thanks to its vocabulary-based organization and the wealth of its entries, The Triple Infernal Vocabulary is both a remarkable reference work and fascinating reading. A true snapshot of esoteric knowledge at the end of the 19th century, it is intended for enthusiasts of the history of magic, collectors of ancient texts, and anyone wishing to deepen their knowledge of occult traditions.

Frinellan, the pseudonym of Simon-François Blocquel (1780–1863), was a French printer-bookseller, publisher, and author based in Lille. Active during the first half of the 19th century, he participated in publishing numerous popular works and was also interested in magic, demonology, and occult traditions. In particular, he worked with the bookseller Jean-Baptiste Castiaux at the Blocquel-Castiaux publishing house, an important Lille publishing business of its time.

Under the name Frinellan, he published in 1847 the Complete Manual of the Demonomaniac, or The Ruses of Hell Revealed, also known as the Triple Infernal Vocabulary. This work compiles, in reference-book form, extensive documentation on demons, apparitions, magical practices, divination, and authors who wrote about the occult sciences. With its encyclopedic character, it is now a characteristic example of popular esoteric literature of the 19th century.

Here, we don’t judge.

No matter where you come from, what you believe in, or what you’re looking for: you belong here. You can be a beginner, curious, a casual practitioner, or a daily witch. What matters is sincere intention.

We believe in all forms of magic.

High magic and its rigorous rituals deserve as much respect as spells passed down in the countryside. We read grimoires, respect rites, listen to old stories. Everything practiced with faith deserves serious and curious attention.

We welcome all traditions.

We don’t put one path above another. We talk hoodoo, kabbalah, Christian prayers, elemental magic, folk rituals, Celtic symbols. What matters is respect. Not the label.

We work cleanly.

Each package is carefully prepared by us, here in France. Before shipping, it is purified so it arrives at your home cleansed and positively charged. We strive to use recyclable packaging and reduce our impact as much as possible.

We stay available.

Customer service is us. Not an AI, not a robot, not a call center. If you have a question, a doubt, a problem, you reach us—the same people who select the products, write the descriptions, and prepare the packages.

We stay human-sized.

We are a small passionate team with big ambitions, hands in the herbs, books, and boxes. And we want to keep it that way.

You speak about it best.
