The lucky bean (or wish seed) is a Tonka bean widely used in South American traditions. In the Brazilian Candomblé (where the tonka originates), it is mainly an offering to the orishas because its sweet scent is especially appreciated by Oxóssi (god of the forest and abundance). In French Guiana, the Tonka is used to make a wish related to material prosperity come true when thrown into a puddle of water.
This small bean is thus known for its ability to attract fortune. When kept in a wallet, it draws money to its owner.
