Familiarize Yourself with the Runes
Start by learning the meaning of each rune. There are 24 runes in the Elder Futhark runic alphabet, each with its own symbolism and history. Take the time to get to know each rune individually, studying their origins, traditional meanings, and the different possible interpretations.
Cleanse and Consecrate
Before first use, it is important to cleanse the runes of any previous energies. This can be done by smudging, running them under water, or exposing them to moonlight. Consecrating the runes involves charging them with your personal energy and intention. Hold each rune and infuse it with your specific intention for your practice.
