Léon Gineste, born in 1939 in Narbonne (Aude), is a French oceanographer biologist and author, recognized for his work in alchemy and Western spirituality.
Orphaned at 14, he learned woodworking trades and, in 1957, enlisted for five years in the Navy. Having never attended middle or high school, he pursued his studies as a self-taught student, earning a degree in biology and a master's in oceanography. In 1982, he defended a doctoral thesis on the issues of nuclear power plant siting.
Alongside his scientific career, Léon Gineste trained for ten years in alchemy and mystical theology under Roger Caro, one of the most prestigious masters of the 20th century.
