Lead Plate
Lead, associated with Saturn in high magic (rigor, dissolution, closing of cycles), is the material linked to protection par excellence. The Romans already engraved formulas on it to invoke deities (these were called defixiones). Later, it became the main ingredient in molybdomancy, divination by studying the shapes of molten lead poured into water.
This thin lead sheet (or foil) can be gently folded or rolled and can serve as a writing surface (words of power, pentacles, signs, ...).
☝️ Note: lead is a heavy metal whose toxicity poses a real danger in case of prolonged exposure. It can enter the body through the respiratory tract if dust is inhaled, by accidental ingestion, or through skin contact, especially if the skin has wounds or irritations. To avoid any risk, hands should be washed after each handling, even when the sheet appears clean. It is also essential not to scrape, sand, or heat it without protection, as this could release harmful particles or vapors. Finally, it should never be used to hold water, oils, or burning incense to prevent any contamination or transfer of toxic substances.

Lead Plate: An Ancient Medium for Protection and Saturn Rituals
Lead is one of the oldest metals used in magic. Dense, opaque, and stable, it is associated with the planet Saturn, a symbol of rigor, dissolution, and the closing of cycles. It represents an element of endings and limits, of strength against external influences. A lead plate thus becomes a powerful medium in rituals of protection, banishment, or distancing. It embodies the force that closes, freezes, and seals. It is not meant to open, but to contain, repel, and fix an intention within a defined space.
A Magical Tradition Rooted in History
Since Antiquity, the Romans used lead as a medium for ritual writing. Names, symbols, and requests addressed to deities or subterranean spirits were engraved on it. These tablets, called defixiones, were used to cast curses, deliver justice, or seek reparation within a sacred context. Later, over the centuries, lead remained present in popular practices, notably through molybdomancy, a divinatory method that involves melting lead and then observing its shapes once hardened in water. The shapes formed were interpreted to foresee the future, grasp a truth, or detect a path to follow. This metal is never trivial. It carries a connection to long time and invisible structure.
