Meadowsweet
The Meadowsweet, or Filipendula Ulmaria, is the plant of love. It has often been used in love potions. More broadly, it calls for harmony and peace thanks to its very elegant flowers and almond fragrance.
Yet, despite its appearance, it has often been overlooked both by medicine and peasants, as it was thought to have no virtues at first. For the druids, however, it was already considered one of the three sacred plants along with mint and verbena.
Later, medicine used Meadowsweet to create... aspirin.
You can use it in fumigations by placing a small amount on a burning charcoal, in magical oils, or as an ingredient in a mojo.
Its other names: Ulmaire, Meadowsweet, Goat's beard.
⸺ Note: ritual use only, not for food or cosmetic use.

Plant of Sweetness and Loving Harmony
Meadowsweet, Filipendula Ulmaria, evokes elegance and delicacy in the plant world. With its white flowers scented with almond, it is associated with rites of love and peace. Once included in love potions, it attracted tenderness, calmed tensions, and established a climate of reconciliation between beings. Its presence in magical rituals related to feelings helped smooth emotional exchanges and pacify troubled relationships. Its light aroma soothes troubled hearts and fosters an atmosphere conducive to sincere attachment.
Sacred Status Among Ancient Druids
Meadowsweet was held in high esteem by druids, who ranked it among the three sacred plants alongside mint and vervain. It symbolized purity and connection to natural forces. Its harvest followed precise rules, and its use involved both healing and invoking spiritual blessings. Despite this ancient recognition, it was neglected in modern agricultural and medical practices, seen as a decorative plant or without concrete use. Yet, its deep value was not lost on ancient traditions, which associated it with natural wisdom and the balance of vital forces.
Scientific Rehabilitation and Therapeutic Uses
The rediscovery of Meadowsweet in the medical field marked a turning point. Salicylate extracted from its aerial parts led to the development of aspirin, a universally used medicine. This breakthrough revealed its anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving power. Since then, it has held an important place in herbal medicine, helping to relieve feverish conditions, joint pain, and chronic inflammation. This comeback confirms the intuition of the ancients and shows how a plant, initially underestimated, can prove essential when attention is paid to the wisdom of ancient knowledge.
