The Elderberry is certainly the most magical plant there is. Its most famous use is as a wizard's wand. In fact, this likely comes from the Celts using its hollow branches to make very special flutes that druids used to communicate with the deceased.
But Elderberry is above all a strong symbol of rebirth and wisdom. Among the Celts, it was forbidden to uproot it because it was believed to house the spirits of the forest during difficult seasons.
The flowers, meanwhile, are traditionally used to protect the home and its members (humans and animals) from evil spells, for exorcisms, to subdue a sorcerer with harmful intentions, and to attract prosperity.

Elderberry: Wisdom and Connection with Spirits
Elderberry embodies rebirth and knowledge. Its hollow branches were used to make ritual flutes, employed by druids to communicate with the dead or with forest spirits. This tree was considered inhabited by protective entities, which justified the prohibition against uprooting or cutting it without a prior ritual. It symbolizes the passage between worlds and holds a sacred role in many European magical practices.

Elderflower protects the home, neutralizes curses, and acts as a barrier against hostile magical intentions. When used as smoke, it purifies an inhabited space, cuts off harmful influences, and safeguards the household members, both human and animal. It is used after a conflict, during a clearing ritual, or to strengthen a lasting protective barrier.
To subdue a malevolent witch or break a spell, burn elderflower on charcoal while clearly stating your intention. It is also used in exorcism rituals where it works directly by driving out unauthorized energy.
Used in a spell jar or placed near the front door, it attracts prosperity by restoring natural balance. Its presence recalls the wisdom of ancient spirits and supports a sacred space aligned with protection and regeneration.
