Aeternum is a small business based in Brittany (specifically in the south of Finistère). It is well known that this region lives to the rhythm of legends, myths, and magical practices, some more familiar than others. To highlight our beautiful region, we will regularly publish little-known legends from Breton history. This week, we explore the famous quest for the Grail.
One evening, while the Knights of the Round Table are gathered at Camelot, a supernatural light fills the hall. An unknown fragrance floats in the air. In this sacred silence, a veiled object crosses the room, carried by invisible hands: the Holy Grail. No words accompany it, but all feel that it is a call.

According to legend, this Grail is the cup used by Christ at the Last Supper, later collected by Joseph of Arimathea to carry the divine blood. Brought to Breton land, it disappears into a sacred place, invisible to the impure. It only reveals itself to the chosen.
Faced with this miracle, the knights vow to find it. But this quest is no ordinary adventure: it is a test of faith, a mirror of the soul, a path to truth. Many fail. Gawain, loyal but proud, gets lost in endless trials. Lancelot, the bravest, sees the Grail but cannot reach it, for his love for Guinevere has tainted his purity. He weeps but accepts divine judgment.
Only three knights truly approach the mystery: Bohort, the faithful; Perceval, the innocent turned wise; and Galahad, the pure. Galahad was born for this quest. Son of Lancelot and Elaine, he is without sin, raised by monks, guided by a higher power.
Through visions, battles against evil, and symbolic encounters, the three finally reach the Castle of the Grail, guarded by the Fisher King, a wounded sovereign unable to heal as long as the Grail remains hidden. There, Galahad receives the ultimate revelation. He becomes one with the divine. After seeing the Grail unveiled, he dies in peace, his soul taken to heaven.
The Grail disappears with him. Perceval becomes a hermit. Bohort is the only one to return to Camelot, bearing the tale. But Arthur senses the end is near. The quest has taken the best, and the kingdom weakens...
