1. Unite with someone |
Beltane is the sabbat of embodied love. It’s the season when forces attract, bodies draw near, and impulses take shape. Love here is not a distant idea. It is a fire to be experienced. It can be sensual, emotional, spiritual, intimate, or cosmic. At Beltane, we celebrate free, chosen, fertile union — with yourself, with another, with a force or an intention. The union ritual is not reserved for couples. It is a
1. Unite with someone
If you are in a relationship or want to honor a loving bond, you can perform a simple ritual for two. Light a red candle and a white candle, side by side. Take a ribbon and tie it together, each holding one end. During this gesture, quietly make a wish for love, growth, or mutual respect.
You can also braid two strands of hair, light a shared flame, or create a talisman together (herbs, stones, flowers). This is not a fixed promise. It is a sacred act of presence for each other.
2. Unite with yourself
If you are alone, you can perform a ritual of inner union. Light a pink or golden candle, stand facing a mirror or simply close your eyes. Place one hand on your heart and the other on your belly. Breathe. Softly say what you want to honor within yourself, what you choose to love, embrace, and nurture.
You can also braid a bracelet or tie a ribbon around your wrist while saying: “I unite with my light. I commit to nurturing this fire.” Wear this bracelet for a few days as a reminder of self-love.
3. Unite with a force or a project
Beltane is also the time to seal a symbolic alliance with an energy or intention. You can write the name of a deity, guide, or goal on a piece of paper, roll it with a love-related herb (rose, basil, lavender), and tie it with a red string. Place it on your altar or bury it in a patch of earth.
You can also draw a circle around an object (candle, stone, photo, jewelry) and gently dance around it. You activate the presence of this bond in your life through a simple but embodied gesture.
Performing a union ritual at Beltane is saying yes to a true bond. Not a bond of dependence, but a bond of impulse. A free, chosen, living alliance. And in this fire that ignites, you are no longer alone. You are connected.
