How to interpret a strange flame or wax on a dagyde?

How to interpret a strange flame or wax on a dagyde?

IN THIS SUMMARY...

1. What can the flame reveal?
2. And the wax, what does it tell?
3. Should you always interpret?

A dagyde candle speaks. Not with words, but with the flame, the wax, the burning shape. During a ritual, what you observe on the dagyde can indicate how the work is reacting, what resists, what flows or gets blocked. You don’t need a fixed interpretation manual. You need attention, coherence, feeling. What you see is an answer. And this answer guides you.

1. What can the flame reveal?

The flame indicates the vitality of the work. A stable and straight flame shows that the energy is flowing. A bright, tall flame that dances without flickering can signal a great movement, a powerful opening, or strong emotional intensity.

If the flame flickers, goes out without a draft, or struggles to stay lit, this can reflect resistance, a blockage, hesitation in the intention. It’s not a failure. It’s a sign to listen to. You can then refocus, internally reformulate your intention, or restart the ritual later with another medium.

A crackling or snapping flame can signal tension, a strong response, a deep cleansing. You observe. You don’t run away.

2. And the wax, what does it tell?

The wax shows the residues of the action. If it melts smoothly, without overflowing, it indicates clear circulation. If it flows irregularly, creates bubbles, thick crusts, or marked shapes, you can read energetic traces in it.

Wax frozen around the heart of the dagyde can indicate protection or confinement. Wax that spreads widely signals overflow or a need for a broader cleansing than expected. Wax surrounding the entire base can symbolize a strong grounding, or conversely, a difficulty in letting go.

You don’t interpret the wax alone. You look at it in the light of your intention. You ask yourself: what does this say about what I wanted to set?

3. Should you always interpret?

No. Sometimes, the ritual simply happens without any particular sign. You don’t need to look for a message at all costs. But if something catches your attention — a strange flame, wax forming a shape, a sudden interruption — then you take the time to listen.

You can also take a photo, write down what you observed, and come back to it later. Sometimes, interpretation becomes clearer with hindsight or a second look, a few days later.

Interpreting a strange flame or wax means listening to the ritual until the end. The dagyde doesn’t give ready-made answers. It shows you what vibrates, what moves, what resists. And in this attentive gaze, you refine your practice.
