The Opelé bean is a central element in the making of the divination tool of the same name, used in the Ifá tradition. Associated with communication with the Orixás, it serves to create a direct link between the practitioner and the spiritual forces. When pierced or opened, it is mounted on a chain alongside other ritual elements to form a complete Ọpẹ̀lẹ̀.
Beyond divination, this bean is also used as an offering. Placed on an altar or in a sacred space, it attracts the favor of the Orixás, strengthens requests for guidance, and supports spiritual work. Its energy is especially valued for rituals related to wisdom, truth, and protection.
It can also be included in consecrated objects, used alone as a symbol of devotion, or given to a guardian spirit to seal a commitment or ritual promise.
Keep it in a space dedicated to worship or divination, away from any desecration.
