Joanna Ebenstein

Joanna Ebenstein is an artist, curator, writer, and graphic designer based in Brooklyn. She is the founder and creative director of Morbid Anatomy, a project encompassing a blog, a library, and a series of events dedicated to exploring the intersections between art, medicine, death, and culture. She also co-founded and directed the Morbid Anatomy Museum in Brooklyn, a space devoted to examining themes related to mortality and cultural curiosities.

Her publications include Memento Mori: The Art of Contemplating Death to Live a Better Life, Anatomica: The Exquisite and Unsettling Art of Human Anatomy, Death: A Graveside Companion, and The Anatomical Venus. Her work has been featured in various media outlets, including the New York Times, the New Yorker, the Guardian, and the Wall Street Journal.

In addition to her curatorial and editorial activities, Ebenstein is a recognized speaker, having presented at institutions such as the New York Public Library, Harvard University, and the Science Museum in London.
