Our Lady of Fatima is a Marian apparition of the Virgin Mary celebrated by the Catholic Church following the events that took place in 1917 in Fatima, a village in Portugal. According to accounts, the Virgin appeared to three young shepherds, Lucia dos Santos and her cousins, Francisco and Jacinta Marto. She appeared to them six times between May and October 1917, entrusting them with three secrets concerning the future of humanity and calling for prayer for the conversion of sinners.
The Virgin Mary is described during these apparitions as being of radiant beauty, dressed in white and emanating a clear and soothing light. She held a rosary in her hands and was surrounded by a light that seemed to come from heaven. Our Lady of Fatima is often depicted holding her Immaculate Heart, surrounded by rays of light or flames, symbolizing her purity and ardent love for all the children of God.
