Among motorcyclists, the Gremlin, quite distinct from the fictional creatures in cinema, is a legendary entity known for causing mechanical malfunctions and breakdowns on the road. These mischievous spirits are associated with unexpected troubles, making journeys less reliable. To protect against their influence, there is a tradition of attaching a Gremlin bell to the lower frame of the motorcycle. The vibrations and ringing of this bell are said to repel these prankster spirits, thus protecting the vehicle and its rider.
It is believed that this bell is more effective when given by a close person. This gesture symbolizes a benevolent intention and strengthens its protective power.
