As you may know, behind Aeternum lies a small business based in Brittany (specifically in the south of Finistère). It is well known that this region lives to the rhythm of legends, myths, and magical practices, some more or less known (Brocéliande, Merlin, the Fairy Viviane, the Alignments, and many others). Thus, to highlight our beautiful region, we will regularly publish little-known legends from Breton history.
This week, we head to the island of Ouessant where distant cousins of the korrigans engage in a strange tradition...
The Tréo-Fall, small mischievous and elusive beings, appear at the top of the cliffs on clear nights. They form an enchanting circle, their light steps seeming to defy gravity. Their crystalline laughter blends with the whisper of the waves, attracting curious humans who, fascinated, approach without suspicion.

The boldest are invited to join their dance. The Tréo-Fall promise fabulous treasures in exchange for participation. But the sprites are not as benevolent as they seem. The dance, though euphoric at first, proves exhausting and dangerous. Those who take part find themselves caught in an infernal whirlwind, unable to stop. When finally released, they sometimes bear heavy consequences: back or heart pains, as if the magic of the circle had drained their vitality.
Fortunately, popular wisdom has found a way to protect oneself. Before venturing into the Tréo-Fall’s dance, one must plant a knife in the ground, blade pointing to the sky. During each turn of the dance, it is crucial to touch this knife, as if to break the enchantment.
Those who follow this precaution say they returned unharmed, sometimes even with small gold coins offered by the Tréo-Fall. But such accounts are rare, as few dare to face the risks of such an adventure.
Even today, on a full moon night, locals avoid venturing near the cliffs. The whisper of the wind might well hide the distant laughter of the Tréo-Fall, and the enchanted circle waits for an imprudent visitor to come back to life...
