As you may know, behind Aeternum is a small business based in Brittany (in the south of Finistère to be precise). And it is well known that this region lives to the rhythm of legends, myths, and magical practices more or less known (Brocéliande, Merlin, the Fairy Viviane, the Alignments, and many others). So, to highlight our beautiful region, we will regularly publish little-known legends from Breton history.
Let's discover together the legend of the Bay of the Dead, on the famous Pointe du Raz...

The Bay of the Dead is a place where the wild landscape and raging waves create an eerie atmosphere. This bay, though beautiful, is also sadly famous for the many shipwrecks that have occurred there over the centuries.
According to an old legend, the Bay of the Dead gets its name from supernatural events that occur on stormy nights. It is said that when the wind blows violently and the sea rages, specters of shipwreck victims appear among the foaming waves. These lost souls wander the bay, desperately trying to return to the world of the living.

The locals say they have seen these ghostly specters, often dressed in the rags of their final moments, trying to climb the slippery rocks or make their way through the furious whirlpools. Their appearance is always accompanied by an oppressive silence, where even the cries of seagulls seem to fade away.
These cursed shipwreck victims are doomed to eternally relive their tragic fate, longing to find the peace they never could obtain.
However, every November 2nd, on All Saints' Day, residents who have lost a loved one in a shipwreck light a fire in front of their house to offer these lost souls a bit of warmth...
