How to Use a Dagyde Candle for Banishment?

How to Use a Dagyde Candle for Banishment?

IN THE SUMMARY...

1. How to prepare the candles for this work?
2. How to activate the separation during the ritual?
3. What to do with the leftover wax?

When a bond becomes heavy, overwhelming, or destructive, it can imprint on the energy like a knotted, tense, worn thread. A bougie dagyde then allows you to represent this bond, name it, and symbolically cut it. This ritual does not seek to erase someone, but to free yourself from a negative attachment, to reclaim your place, to establish a clear separation. It is an act of sovereignty.

1. How to prepare the candles for this work?

You choose two dagydes: one for yourself, one for the person involved. You can use dark colors if the bond is heavy (black, gray), or neutral colors (white) if you simply want to cut without conflict.

You write a name on each figure. You place them facing each other, about 20 cm apart, connected by a black thread, string, or ribbon. This link symbolizes attachment, the unspoken, the invisible thread. You set your intention: “I cut what binds me, what troubles me, what exhausts me.”

You can surround the scene with herbs like rue, rosemary, or mugwort, to purify and support the cut.

2. How to activate the separation during the ritual?

You first light your own dagyde. Then the other’s. You watch the flames. You let the link between the two start to heat, melt, or stretch. You stay focused on your intention: reclaim your energy, free yourself, set an end.

You can use a cutting object (scissors, blade) to cut the thread when you feel the energy is ready. The gesture should be simple, without anger, without revenge. You are not destroying the other. You are cutting what prevents you from being yourself.

You can then gently move the two dagydes away from each other, or turn them back to back. You let the candles burn down completely.

3. What to do with the leftover wax?

You can bury yours in a protective place, and throw the other’s in a place far from your daily life. If you prefer to fully close the work, you can throw both waxes into a flowing water or into the earth, internally marking the end of the bond.

You can also burn some sage or camphor after the ritual, to mark a clear break.

Cutting a toxic bond with a dagyde is not erasing someone. It is setting a boundary, catching your breath, freeing what trapped you. And in this liberation, you find yourself more whole.
