Three levels of reading help distinguish the plant’s characteristics, the traditions surrounding it and the essential precautions.
Identify the plant
Start with its name, family, appearance and the plant part concerned. Reliable identification always comes before use.
Understand its correspondences
Then explore the symbolism, planets, elements and ritual uses passed down through different traditions.
Keep safety in mind
Symbolic does not mean edible or harmless. Check toxicity, exposure methods and the precautions specific to each species.
