La Trinité sainte — pantacle de l’abbé Julio, reproduction historique

Three crosses in a triangle: a simple sign to which Julio gives a central place in his practice of blessing. The figure brings together the three persons of the Trinity.

Read the symbolism

In Julio's explanation, the triangle represents the Trinity and divine unity. The three crosses correspond to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. His description depicts a red background and blue crosses; the colors of the reproduction presented here differ from this description. The structure of the sign remains legible: three marks joined in a single figure.

The attributed effects

Julio connects this sign to all blessings and requests addressed to God. He attributes to it a general power of protection, sanctification, and assistance in times of hardship, subjecting the request to the providential order.

Usage according to Julio

The description associates the figure with three signs of the cross and the invocation of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Julio specifies that anyone may draw this triangle and its three crosses. He distinguishes this simple design from the supports he blesses before joining them to another prayer or another pentacle.

A personal reading

Follow the three sides of the triangle, then look at the three crosses as elements of a single invocation. For a personal reading, choose a precise intention for blessing: a person, a place, or a beginning. This contemplative suggestion accompanies the study of the description.

The source and variations

This sign with three crosses is distinct from the divine Triangle bearing the sacred name and from the protective Triangle intended for the home. Number 1 is the numbering in the classical catalogue of the 44 pentacles; the old description bears number 2.

Abbé Julio, The Secret Book of Great Exorcisms and Blessings, Vincennes, published by the author, 1908. Explanation and application no. 2, pp. 420–421. Practical advice on blessed and consecrated supports: pp. 462–463.

Classical catalogue numbering: 1 of 44. This numbering differs from the inventory of engravings in the old volumes.
