An eye appears in a triangle, surrounded by the letters of Raphael's name. Julio gives this sign a particular application in eye disorders.

Read the symbolism

The note identifies the eye, the triangle, and the letters of Raphael's name. The inscription refers to the story of Tobit and the healing of the eyes. The sign thus associates sight, the archangel's name, and a biblical scene of aid.

The attributed effects

The application attributed by Julio concerns eye ailments. It belongs to his religious interpretation of healing and the historical vocabulary of the work; the figure is presented here as a support for prayer and study.

Julio's use

The sign is read alongside the practices for blessing and consecrating supports set out in the practical advice. The biblical account explains the inscription on the plate; this page does not turn it into a recipe to apply to the eyes.

A personal reading

For a personal reading, observe the position of the eye in the triangle. You may formulate an intention of clarity, attention, and discernment, or pray for someone experiencing difficulties with their vision.

The source and variants

The reproduction is plate no. 32 of the third volume. The name Raphael inscribed around the eye connects this pantacle to the archangel's figures while giving it a distinct application.
