A Litha altar does not need to be elaborate or solemn. It should radiate, reflecting the fullness of light, the strength of the growing earth, and solar energy at its peak. It is not seasonal décor, but a living space, a center of connection between you, the visible world, and the forces of the natural cycle.

Creating an altar for Litha means offering a space to the light.

1. Where to set up the altar?

Choose a bright place, near a window or even outdoors if possible. If that is not possible, place a golden candle or a lamp directed toward it to evoke the presence of the sun. Litha is a celebration of presence, not withdrawal.

The space can be small. What matters is the clarity, coherence, and energy you bring to it.

2. What elements should be included?

Place a yellow, golden, or red candle in the center or elevated position. This is the solstice flame, a symbol of vital fire. You can add a flower crown or a bouquet of solar plants such as lavender, rosemary, basil, or St. John’s wort.

Add a solar stone such as citrine, amber, garnet, tiger’s eye, or pyrite. You can also place a coin or a golden piece of jewelry to evoke the richness of the earth at its zenith.

A bowl of clear water, a small dish of salt, and a few grains of wheat or rice can balance the arrangement.

If you want to go further, place a small round mirror or an image of the sun. This intensifies the effect of reflection and radiance.

3. What should you do before the altar?

You can sit for a few minutes each day between sunrise and sunset. Observe, breathe, and give thanks. You can place a written wish there, a commitment for the summer, or an intention connected to growth, joy, or strength.

The altar is a place for recentring. It allows you to stay aligned with solar energy, even in the heart of everyday life.

You can light the candle at dawn and let it burn for a moment of silence, music, or dancing.

A Litha altar is not fixed. It evolves with you. And in every flame you place, the sun finds a space to keep shining in your home.
