Before lighting a dagyde candle, you need to charge it. This is the precise moment when you set your intention and establish the connection between the wax figure and the person concerned. A dagyde is not inherently magical. It is your action, energy, and concentration that give it a clear purpose. Without this step, it remains an empty form.

1. Why does it need to be charged?

The dagyde represents a body. But it does not act on its own. You are the one who activates it by placing a precise intention within it. Charging it helps avoid any energetic confusion. You define what it represents, whom it is connected to, and why you are preparing it. Without this moment, the dagyde acts without clear direction, and your work may be scattered or ineffective.

Charging the dagyde means creating a temporary double. It is like placing a message, a vibration, or a direction inside a neutral envelope.

2. How do you actually charge a dagyde candle?

You begin by taking the dagyde in your hands. You can close your eyes, breathe calmly, and connect with the person or intention. If you are working for yourself, refocus on your own name, body, and need.

You can then write a first name on the candle with a sharp point (on the back, head, belly…). You can also place a drop of ritual oil on it, rub the wax with an herb, or wrap the dagyde in a charged thread or cloth. You can whisper a few words, speaking to the dagyde as you would to a witness: “You represent [nom]. I charge you for this work.”

This moment is simple, without theatrics. You act with presence, not for show.

3. Do you need to say a prayer or invocation?

You can if that is part of your practice. But it is not required. What matters is that the connection is clear. There is no need to recite anything. You state a clear sentence, a symbolic commitment. It is not a fixed formula. It is a spoken statement that establishes the connection.

You can also place a personal object beside the dagyde, a lock of hair, a piece of paper with a first name, a drawing, or a symbol. These elements strengthen the connection, but they are not essential.

Charging a dagyde candle means bringing an intention to life in the wax. Once this action has been taken, the candle becomes a magical body, ready to receive your work.
