Originating in medieval traditions, the pantacle could be engraved on animal hides, wood, lead, or mercury, particularly in the case of planetary pantacles.
Why Is There Confusion Between the Pentacle and the Pantacle?
The first reason is phonetic. The terms "pentacle" and "pantacle" sound very similar. Since much magical knowledge was passed down orally, it is possible that the confusion began this way.
It must also be said that esoteric traditions such as Kabbalah, Hermeticism, and Wicca bear some responsibility. In some of these traditions, the terms are used interchangeably or with slightly different meanings, which has led to an unclear understanding of their differences.
