A dagyde candle does not go out with the flame. Once it has burned down, the wax, marks, shapes, and residue remain. These remnants still carry the energy of the work performed. They are not simply waste. They are witnesses. Knowing what to do with them allows you to properly close the ritual, leave nothing unresolved, and carry the intention through to the end.

1. Why shouldn’t you dispose of the wax just any way?

Because the wax has absorbed your intention. It represented a body, a bond, an action. Abandoning it at random means abruptly cutting off the ritual or leaving energy in limbo. Even when the work is complete, an energetic trace remains. You must therefore consciously decide what you want to do with this trace.

This final act gives your ritual a true conclusion. It marks the end of a cycle or the beginning of a new one.

2. What should you do after a liberation or severing ritual?

If the dagyde was used to sever a bond, drive away an influence, or clear heavy energy, the wax must leave your space. You can bury it in a distant place, throw it into running water, or place it in an outdoor trash bin, while saying inwardly: “This work is complete.”

You do not keep it. You release it. Movement outward supports the intention of severing or cleansing.

3. What about after a protection or blessing ritual?

If the dagyde was used to protect, bless, or strengthen, you can keep some of the wax. You can place it in a small cloth, pouch, or box. Store it in a safe place, such as an altar, a closed cupboard, or beneath a personal object.

It then becomes a temporary talisman that extends the work into daily life. You can also bury it in your garden, near your door, or in a place familiar to you, to anchor the protection in your space.

4. Can leftover wax be melted or recycled?

No, not for magical use. Even if the wax appears clean, it carries a memory. Reusing it muddles the energies, mixes intentions, and may make future rituals unstable. It is better to let this wax reach its own end, however quietly.

What matters is not the material. It is the act of closure. And through this act, you honor what has been done.

Knowing what to do with leftover wax after a ritual with a dagyde means properly finishing what you started. And in this well-defined ending, you make room for something else.
