The flame of a dagyde marks the beginning of the work. Lighting the candle activates the intention. Letting it burn all the way down means accompanying it to its completion. But in some situations, you may wonder: is it possible to carry out this work in several sessions? Or must the dagyde burn in one go, without interruption? The answer depends on the type of ritual being undertaken. The rhythm of the fire follows the rhythm of the intention.

1. Why burn the dagyde in one go?

Because magical work follows a momentum. An intention set in motion acts like a thread stretched between the beginning and the end of the ritual. Cutting this thread can scatter the energy, weaken the message, or prevent completion. Letting the dagyde burn in one go allows for continuous, focused, fluid action.

This method is particularly suited to release, severing, protection, or banishing rituals. These workings require a clear gesture, with no turning back. The fire acts as a clear channel. It carries the intention without interruption.

2. When can the dagyde be burned in several sessions?

Some rituals can extend over several days. This is the case with opening, support, or gradual transformation workings. In this case, you light the dagyde each day at the same time for a few minutes, picking up the thread of the work. You are not setting a new intention. You are restarting the same one.

But be careful: the break between phases must be conscious. You extinguish the flame respectfully, temporarily bringing the work to a close. You then resume in an aligned state of mind. This is not a forgotten pause. It is a ritualized rhythm.

You can also work according to lunar cycles or over several symbolic phases, provided you define this framework from the outset.

3. How can you tell whether a pause is possible?

You listen to the content of the ritual. If it involves a rapid action, a powerful gesture, or a need to cut through or release, you choose to burn it in one go. If it involves gentle support or gradual grounding, you can consider working in several stages.

But in every case, you do not let the flame go out on its own without intention. An unplanned extinguishing may indicate an energetic interruption, resistance, or weakening. If this happens, observe and adjust; you can start again with a new candle.

Lighting a dagyde means setting a process in motion. Doing it all at once or in several sessions does not change the essence. But the rhythm you choose must be consistent with your commitment.
