1. Why does Amethyst need to be cleansed regularly? |
An Amethyst absorbs a great deal. To help it retain all its strength, it needs to be helped to release what it holds onto. This step is part of the relationship we build with it. In this guide, I explain how I cleanse Amethyst and restore all its energy.
1. Why does Amethyst need to be cleansed regularly?
When an Amethyst remains in a charged space or accompanies intense periods, it retains a trace of all that. Without cleansing, it eventually loses its clarity. I have noticed that its effects become less distinct, as if it were becoming tired. Cleansing it allows it to be reset. It does not take much time, but it makes all the difference in how it interacts with me afterward.
2. How can Amethyst be cleansed without damaging it?
Amethyst remains a sensitive stone. I never expose it to direct salt or heat. For me, the best method is still clear water, preferably spring or filtered water. I leave it under a gentle stream for a few minutes, then dry it carefully. Sometimes, I place it on a scallop shell, or in an abalone shell, to gently lighten it. This natural Amethyst stone also responds well to the smoke of a simple incense, such as sandalwood or white sage.
3. How can Amethyst be recharged after cleansing?
A cleansed Amethyst needs a fresh boost. I avoid exposing it to sunlight, as its color may fade. I prefer the soft light of the moon, especially on full-moon nights. I place it on a windowsill for a few hours. I also sometimes place it on a quartz geode or an Amethyst cluster, if I have one within reach. This recharge restores its full vibration without overwhelming it. The next day, it regains its soothing presence.
